🐾 Neelagi Tigers Migrate here from North of Kunnamkulam to Aluva, just outside Kochi city.
▪️ It covers a distance of more than 100 Kilometers in length, 6 to 12 times a year ❗

◼ Over the past 50 Years, Hundreds of Media Reports have come about 1. Sightings of Leopard Pugmarks and 2. occasional sightings of Leopards, in the Costal Belt of Thrissur District.

[People mistake Neelagiri Kaduva for Leopards as both look SIMILAR in Low Light Conditions. Leopards are NOT Present in this Region, as there are No Forests nearby]

👉 It was one of the 3 Biggest Unsolved Mysteries about Wildlife in Kerala.
.....................................................................................

🟦 Every Day Dijo Thomas Worked in the Field TRACKING and Searching Neelagiri Tiger;
and Educating LOCAL PEOPLE, Meeting Eyewitness and doing Research.

Pug Mark Size: 12 cm

Eyewitness: More than 18+ persons at different occations had seen it, in a span of 1 Month.

Of them, 3 saw it in board day light. [I have testimonies of some of them on record.].
My Team & Myself had narrowly missed it many times in Kanjani, during those initial 2 months .

▪️Older Generation: Neelagiri Kaduva was know to the Older Generation there, including its Physical Features and Dog hunting nature.

▪️If you go and ask anyone in the Costal Belt of Thrissur about Kattan Puli [Kattan Leopard] , each and every person has heard about it, though the younger generation mostly didn't knew, what exactly it is, Till News about its Discovery by Dijo Thomas came in Media.

🙏 Prasad Mangattukara, Vayshak, Rajeev etc. were in my Team. They helped me locally in TRACKING and Searching for Neelagiri Tiger in March and April in Kanjani region. We used to Search in the night till 3 a.m., most of the nights.

We had many near misses.

As we were searching for NeelagiriKaduva [NK] using a torch in night, they sense us much before we are able to see them, & they move way.

We were even able to smell it more than 3 times.

NeelagiriKaduva has a smell similar to that of a Tiger, but more intense.

▪️More than another 100 + persons have seen it in the past 15 years, before 2016, in Kanjani-Engandiyoor-Kunnamkulam belt of Thrissur Dist.

▪️More than another 50 + persons have seen it after May 2016, in Kanjani-Engandiyoor-Kunnamkulam belt of Thrissur Dist.
