This Animal was obtained in a cage in Pavaratty, Thrissur, Kerala, India; in 2016.

The people informed Forest Department, who sent the Photo and Video to Prof. PO Nameer, Teacher in Agricultural University, Thrissur.

PO Nameer said with Finality that it is a Palm Civet which lost its Hair, and he Reconfirmed it to several people later on.

As PO Nameer said that it was only a Palm Civet, it was KILLED Secretly and EATEN by the Villagers.
(Palm Civets ( Toddy Cats ) are sometimes Poached in Kerala)

✖ No, with Direct Knowledge of Palm Civets, I can Guarantee that it is Not a Palm Civet, which lost its Hair. From Childhood Onwards, I used to observe Palm Civets in the attic of my house in Kottayam, Kerala. I used to protect them in the Attic and observe the young ones in close quarters, by climbing into the attic. Though they have Excellent Night Vision, they have poor Day sight, and will look at you blankly, during Day time.

▪️ Scarcoptic mange is a debilitating disease associated with coyotes, foxes, wolves, dogs etc. But what you see in this picture is NOT Scarcoptic mange. This is the NATURAL STATE of hair for this Animal.
